Career educator - public school music, college professor of earth science, part-time employment with several professional organ builders, recent widower. Glen likes cave exploring, volunteering for theater organ restoration projects

Harold Ulmer Shop foreman, designer, woodworker, Lebanon Valley College graduate, former college administrator, preacher's kid, orange cat named "Wolfie", wife Susan is an organist, Nicknamed "Bluto" at work. 4 children, 3 grand children that call him "Big Poppi". Currently restoring a carousel band organ. Past-times include furniture building, gardening, reading, embroidery (skills passed down from his grandmother) model railroads, and photography.

James R. McFarland Jr. Born in Baltimore, Maryland - graduated Baltimore Polytechnic Institute majoring in Engineering Studies - built first two organs (mechanical action) in 1967 and 1968 - worked with Baltimore and Washington DC organ tuners - worked at Smithsonian - worked with Evan Getz and William Hitchcock at Lewis and Hitchcock in the 1960's - also worked with Irving Lawless and James Akright - studied organ at Peabody Conservatory with Elsie Rau - later with Dr. James Boeringer at Susquehanna University. Started McFarland-Visscher Co. in 1969 - formed James R. McFarland and Company in 1972 - 50 major works completed between 1972 and 1987 including the restoration of two 18th century instruments by David Tannenberg - largest new organ was a pseudo-Victorian tracker of 40 ranks - technical director for Columbia Organ Works from 1987 to 1994 - now in same position at SDG Organs. Jim resides in Millersville, Pennsylvania restored Carpenter-Gothic Victorian Home. |

Bill
Napier Born and raised in Philadelphia, graduated from CAPA High School, Philadelphia Restaurant School graduate in Culinary Arts, BS in Music Education - voice - Millersville University. Married Karen in 1987 and moved to Millersville, Pennsylvania. Three children, and various pets, lives in a timber-framed house that is always in some state of construction or demolition. Bill loves solving design issues and working with his hands. Karen is a stockholder in SDG and a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Phil Cooper Our resident organist, Director of Music Ministries at Lititz Moravian Church. Spent the last 30 years researching the 18th century Lititz organ builder David Tannenberg. He has recorded 2 CDs on Tannenberg organs as well as those of David's followers. He has a website devoted to Tannenburg. |

Dave Hollinger Dave is one of our part-timers from rural Lancaster County, and has always been fascinated with organ building. Other interests include astronomy, telescope building and aviation. |

Larry Herr Larry is our all around handyman and carpenter. Former air freight terminal manager, and former project manager for a building company. Married to Mary Anne, he has 3 children and 8 grand children. Loves to travel spending time at his Lycoming Co. cabin and the beach. Larry has made 25 mission trips to New Orleans, Nicaragua, Tennessee, and Kentucky, and has volunteered at St. Paul's Chapel at the World Trade Center.

Mother of two, grandmother of four (including Charlie), loves filing (especially alphabetizing), and spoiling the Chairman of the Board. Nicknamed "Pee Wee" she is the shortest person on staff.

Charlie Official Shop dog, Chairman of the board, official greeting committee, enjoys shedding, sleeping, milk bones, and trips to the tree out front. Charlie regrets not being allowed on tuning trips.
